The film follows Azzam — withdrawn and lost to his screens — as he crosses a gateway of light from his narrow reality into the wide world of the butterflies. A coming-of-age journey through belonging, courage and the search for happiness after losing his father, told as adventure and comedy.
“Azzam: The Butterfly Effect” is a Saudi 3D animated feature releasing in cinemas across Saudi Arabia on 10 September 2026. Directed by Ahmed Munir, written by Hani Titawi and distributed by QANAWAT. Runtime is 90 minutes, suitable for families and children.

The Story
A boy hiding from grief behind a screen
Azzam is not yet twelve, but he already knows everything about the pain of loss. His father died three years ago in a sudden accident, and since that day the spiral of grief has only widened around him.
He begins to run from his own thoughts, withdrawing into his iPad and social apps as an escape from his fears. It becomes a chosen isolation that pins his eyes and his mind inside the frame of a white screen… so he can forget.
